Anyone who owns a dog or cat knows it: you vacuum, and an hour later there's already a clump of fur in the corner again. It feels like your vacuum cleaner loses the battle every day.

Usually, this is not due to you or your pet. We investigated where most vacuum cleaners go wrong with pet hair. These are the five reasons, plus what to look out for if you're fed up with it.

Hair is picked up but wraps around the roller instead of ending up in the bin. Then it's your turn to get to work: brush it out, pull the hairs free, sometimes with the help of scissors.
